The Tuskegee bivouackingsite was located at the Tuskegee base in Alabama. It was a training center for all caustic fighter pilots. It took place between 1941 to 1945. There were 996 original Tuskegee disperse custody, which include pilots, bombardiers, and navigators, but only five now remain. Their names argon Colonel Robert Ashby, Colonel Alexander Jefferson, Captain Claude Platte, Lieutenant Ed Tillman, and Major serjeant-at-law James Sheppard. They were dedicated, brave young men who had volunteered to become the Statess first black military airmen. Captain Platte verbalize that sometimes you volunteered but other times you were voluntold. Segregation was a huge problem. Colonel Ashby stated that they had a black base with a white instructor, black and white fountains, and colored eating areas. Colonel Jefferson give tongue to that the blacks were not allowed to leave the base but the whites could. Lieutenant Tillman give tongue to that you were able to make $21 to $250 a month depending on your position. He similarly added that the training and education at the camp were exceptional. Tuskegee is an Indian tribe name. They were called the Red Tails because their planes were painted red. The Tuskegee men changed the United States and the world. They are American heroes.



They were able to sink a German destroyer using only machine guns. They change more than 600 boxcars, locomotives and rolling stock. They won more than 850 medals, including 150 rarified flying crosses, 8 purple hearts, 14 bronze stars, 744 air medals and clusters, and 3 distinguished unit citations. Together the Red Tails destroyed 251 enemy aircrafts. The remaining five Tuskegee men were asked what their great achievement throughout the journey was. They all said that it was how they changed this country. They also said they had no fear. They knew exactly what they were getting themselves into and do not regret any of it.
